1. Introduction
This guide explains how to configure an SMA system with DataManager for PV curtailment by Octave via SMA API (cloud control).
2. Octave needs to request SMA access to the installation
- Octave needs the mail address of the owner of the PV installation
- Via the cloud API, Octave will provide that owner mail address to SMA and request SMA access to the system.
- SMA will then automatically send an e-mail to the owner mail address to request access.
- The ‘owner’ then has to approve that request.
3. Configure the SMA system — SMA API cloud control
- The installer needs local network access on the SMA system for this.
- Furthermore, Octave needs the serial number of the SMA data manager (or inverter with datamanager), and injection tariff formula to Octave to get the system operational.
- To configure the SMA system for PV curtailment control by Octave via the SMA API cloud control option, perform the following steps. The interface is slightly different if there is an Separate Datamanager device, vs when the Datamanager is integrated into an SMA inverter.
3.1. Separate Data Manager device:
- Log in into the local web interface of the Data Manager with an administrator account:
- Enable PV curtailment control for ‘Direct Seller’:
- Log out.
- Provide the Serial number of the SMA data manager to Octave
- Provide the injection tariff formula to Octave for optimal PV curtailment, tailored to the customer’s tariff
3.2. SMA Data Manager integrated into an SMA Inverter:
